Child welfare

Perrywoods United aim not to just meet legal requirements with regard to Child Welfare but are working towards reaching and maintaining best working practice.

Safeguarding:

Perrywoods United follows and endorses the F.A Safeguarding Policy and Procedures. We have appointed a Club Welfare Officer to oversee this responsibility and to act as a contact over child protection issues. Our current Club Welfare Officer is Joe Farley.

Staff Recruitment and Training:

  • No person over the age of 16 will be permitted to coach at Perrywoods United without a complete DBS check and completion of the FA online safeguarding children course.
  • We are working towards all Lead coaches at the club completing the FA ‘Introduction to Coaching Football’ course, formerly known as Level 1 and being first aid trained.
  • All staff are issued with Perrywoods coaching jackets so that they can be easily identified.
  • Committee and coaches meetings are held to allow new policy and information to be shared.
  • All members of the club – parents, staff, players and visitors are expected to adhere to the Code of Conduct laid out in the club constitution.

Medical Issues:

  • Parents or guardians must declare any medical issues their child has on the registration form when they join us. When teams are allocated, this information will then be shared with the relevant coach. Should medical circumstances change during the season, it is the responsibility of the parent or guardian to communicate this to the club.
  • Whilst a number of our multi-league staff are first aid trained, the responsibility for first aid on Saturday mornings is with the first aid trained staff at Hadley Stadium as this is where first aid kits and appropriate recording systems are held centrally. Should first aid be required, Hadley Staff are either present around the pitch outside, or can be found by ringing the bell at the desk inside the building.
  • All children must have a responsible adult with them throughout each game. This is essential if there are any medical or first aid issues, as our club staff do not stand in loco parentis.
